Recently I do a lot of hunting and foraging for wild edibles. I am amazed by how many wild plants are edible and how incredibly healthy they are. Foraging wild plants has been very therapeutic for me.

How to find wild garlic
Foraging wild garlic is easy once you learn how to identify wild garlic. The best time to forage for wild garlic in the northern hemisphere is between March to July.
Wild garlic Identification
Wild garlic grows in the forest, usually in wet areas, close to a river or a stream. The plant likes moist soil and a shady woodland environment. Wild garlic leaves are of vibrant green colour and they are long and pointed with a smooth edge. The leaves grow separately, one by one, and are of strong green colour. The stem is white and it ends in a bulb. The leaves smell of garlic when you crush them together.
Which part of wild garlic can you eat?
All parts of wild garlic are edible - the leaves are the most common, but you can also eat the flower buds, flowers, seed heads and even the bulbs.
The benefits of eating wild garlic
Wild garlic can be eaten to help fight off coughs and colds. Traditionally, wild garlic was a widely used medicinal herb used to treat ailments such as toothache, sore eyes, or warts to measles, mumps or rheumatism. Modern research suggests that, like garlic, eating wild garlic may help to reduce blood cholesterol and lower blood pressure.
Always be sure you can positively identify any plant before you pick it, and never eat any plant you are unsure of. When foraging, ensure you leave plenty for wildlife.
