Here's what to expect from battery day this month. Tesla has been secretly developing new battery technologies and the recent patents confirm this. Tesla's new battery technologies will bring a new generation of batteries that will revolutionize the EV (electric vehicle) industry. Tesla is also planning to make its own battery cells by developing a manufacturing line for in-house batteries. This vertical integration of the entire process of making EVs will take Tesla to the next level. Once Tesla begins mass production of these new batteries this may lead to the "Holy Grail" of electric vehicles, making EVs a lot cheaper than gas guzzlers. The average price of batteries fell down in 2019 and it's expected to fall even further in the coming few years and reaching price parity with internal combustion engine vehicles at $100/kWh by the year 2023. But knowing Elon and how he likes to accelerate things, we can expect this to happen sooner!
The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, also hinted at Tesla getting into the mining business to mine their own minerals. It is starting to look like the legacy automakers and others will be buying from Tesla soon!
Tesla is still planning to roll out its Robotaxi network by the end of this year. It's currently pending for regulatory approval. Elon Musk is very confident about Full-Self Driving being ready for driverless cars this year. Robotaxi's are complemented by the new 1 million mile battery packs that Elon has been hinting about lately. This allows cars to be driven over about 100,000 miles per year for over 10 years with very little loss of capacity in the battery packs. Tesla is truly revolutionizing the car industry right in front of our eyes. History is being made.
