At the IDEF 2023 defense exhibition in Istanbul, the Turkiye Armed Forces announced that they have started deploying the Special Operations Vehicle (SOV) developed from the PARS IV 6X6 armored vehicle.
It is known that the defense company FNSS began delivering the first batch of PARS IV SOV to the Turkiye Security Forces on November 22, 2022, at the FNSS factory facility in Gölbaşı Ankara.
The PARS IV SOV was developed under the “6X6 Mine Protected Vehicle Procurement Project” in collaboration with the Turkish Defense Industry Association SSB.
The PARS IV SOV provides the unrivaled optimal combination of the survivability of an MRAP vehicle and the high tactical mobility of a wheeled armored fighting vehicle.
Apart from offering high ballistic protection and protection against mines/IEDs, PARS IV SOV also provides protection against RPGs by applying steel cages covering its body.
As a defense and self-defense weapon, the PARS IV SOV is equipped with several weapon systems designed to attack multiple targets simultaneously from all directions including targets at high altitudes.
There are two remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS) located at the front and rear of the vehicle.
This weapon system is equipped with a universal gun mount that allows it to carry a 7.62mm, 12.7mm machine gun or 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
The two-axis stabilization system allows for firing while on the move and for engaging targets that are high up such as on cliffs or on the tops of buildings. It can also engage low-altitude aerial targets such as drones and helicopters.
The PARS IV SOV is also equipped with next-generation mission equipment that ensures combat effectiveness, safer route planning, command/control and rapid targeting.
