Olecranon Bursitis is a common problem in anyone who experiences repetitive trauma to the elbow or a single blow.
This problem can happen to anyone who puts excessive pressure upon the elbow or falls.
The elbow “bursa” is a protective soft tissue under the skin which protects the bony area from impact. When injured, the bursa becomes swollen; but in most cases it recovers with simple rest. Sometimes it helps to drain the fluid. Aspiration is relatively straight forward and minimally painful. Surgery is usually not necessarily.
