Rick Doblin is the founder and president of MAPS, the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies. In this interview we discuss how MAPS got started, the organization's recent collaboration with the military, and MDMA (ecstasy) as a promising treatment for PTSD.
My favorite part is when Rick describes the LSD trip he took on his 21st birthday, when he heard a siren and became convinced the Russians were bombing Tampa. The story of what he decided to do with his remaining time on Earth is both hilarious and touching (42:15).
Don't mind the technical glitches. The video cuts out in a couple places, but it resumes momentarily. (The audio continues seamlessly.)
