In her one-woman play Jackie, Nobel Prize-winning Austrian novelist and playwright Elfriede Jelinek (The Piano Teacher) paints a complicated and irreverent portrait of the iconic, often-idolized American former First Lady. Women’s Project Theater, New York’s preeminent Off-Broadway theatre devoted to developing and producing new work by women theatre artists, will feature Jackie as part of its Spring 2013 season. Join us for an evening focused on the unique challenges of staging Jelinek’s intensely theatrical work. Learn more about the playwright whose work was lauded by the Nobel Committee for its “musical flow of voices and countervoices… that with extraordinary linguistic zeal reveal the absurdity of society’s clichés and their subjugating power” with director Tea Alagic, translator Gitta Honegger, scenic designer Marsha Ginsberg, and moderated by Jonathan Kalb.
