The Itsukushima Shinto Shrine is one of the most famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Japan. Located just near the city of Hiroshima, Itsukushima is home to a famous floating "torii" or gateway, located at the entrance to the shrine. Despite its popularity, the shrine is among Shinto's most revered and sacred places, and it makes for a fascinating place to explore. Let's have a look around!
