'My Boy Lollipop" by Millie Small is a great ska song released in March 1964 and still a favorite of mine over 54 years later. It was a massive hit for this young 17-year-old Jamaican singer-songwriter, reaching #2 in both in the UK and the US . This song has since sold more than 7 million copies worldwide.
It was released in mono only. [AM Radio and mono LPs were still king back in '64]. I've always wanted it in stereo, so I made this my 1st attempt at using iZotope RX 7's "Music Rebalance" utility to make a DES [Digitally Extracted Stereo] version of it. Using the original mono recording, I isolated the the horns and harmonica in the left channel, the drums and percussion in the right channel, kept Millie's vocal and the bass centered, then added post-op reverb for a nice blended effect.
Enjoy my [DES] Digitally Extracted STEREO version of "My Boy Lollipop"!
