Ukrainian football player of Marseille Ruslan Malinovsky and Russian football player of Monaco Alexander Golovin shook hands and hugged after the match between their teams in the French championship. This moment was broadcast, Malinovsky was criticized in social networks and the Ukrainian media.

He turned to the Ukrainians and apologized:

“I want to apologize to the Ukrainians for responding to the Monaco player's gesture. I understand that it was better to bypass him, but it so happened that he came up to me and greeted me. After the game, all the players shake hands with each other, and I did it purely mechanically.

I understand how important this is for you at the moment, but those insults and hatred for a second offense compared to what we have been doing for Ukraine and Ukrainians since the beginning of the war, cause me unpleasant feelings and doubts about your sincerity when you write me words of support.

In an individual sport, I would not even go out to play against a Russian athlete, as I fully support the removal of Russians from international competitions.

Golovin did not comment on the situation.
