He’s joked about hoping that people don’t (really) put their lives into his hands, but Jesse Spencer is ever-convincing in his role on "Chicago Fire." No question many fans would love nothing more than for Jesse to come to their rescue.
After a riveting Season 4 finale that both raised and answered a lot of questions, the fifth Chicago Fire season is set to “light up” the screen again. In it, Jesse, as Lt. Matthew Casey, is set to lead his team from Chicago Firehouse 51 straight into the heat as he shoulders up to 60 pounds of gear and the mental weight of human lives at risk.
Viewers will also watch closely to see what transpires next between Casey and Gabriela Dawson, played by Monica Raymund. They can’t be married and be on the fire truck, and that presents just a slight obstacle in the way of future plans.
“Dawsey” is also a foster parent to toddler Louie. Producers have confirmed that the couple is on “solid footing” so we’ll wait and see. As Jesse says in this interview, Casey now has “responsibilities.”
Jesse, born in Melbourne, Australia, worked in the Australian soap opera, "Neighbours." He was cast next, stateside in "House," where he did eight years as Dr. Robert Chase with Hugh Laurie. Ironically, in real life, Jesse’s two brothers are both doctors.
Here he talks about the “shorthand” his team has developed on set and on camera. He also answers the question we had to ask: If there was a fire during the interview, could we count on him?
Watch the Season 5 "Chicago Fire" premiere on NBC Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 10 p.m. ET. Then stand by for the 100th episode coming this season. Applause!
