The Frankfurt School was Founded in 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany.
In 1933, after Adolf Hitler’s rise to power, the school migrated to Geneva (Switzerland), then to New York City (1935), where it was affiliated to Columbia University. After World War II, in the 1950s, part of its intellectuals went back to West Germany and re-established the school in Frankfurt.
