Using google maps without internet can save you money on data plans when traveling abroad and is easy to setup and use during a trip away. Find out how to do it?

In this travel tips guide, we cover a quick 3 minute tutorial on how to setup an offline map on an iOS device (android is very similar) for a destination you are travelling to, where you might not always have an internet connection. You can do this before you travel or during a trip if you have wifi for a short period, or if you want to save roaming data on your device for when you really need it.
This can save you money on using your data plan or buying a sim in the country you are traveling too. In addition its great to use as a Sat Nav when you hire a car. Don't hire a sat nav from your car hire company!

There are a few countries you cannot use offline maps.
Japan and China are two and there are more, let us know in the comments if you know of more. This is due to the rights to maps for those countries being owned by an alternative service.
