The Battle of Berlin was fought building by building and room by room. The tidal wave of numerically superior (but also in quality) Soviet forces launched powerful attacks from all sides, preceding their advances with saturation artillery bombardment.
The German defenders fought amongst the rubble forming pockets of intense resistance. They fought for every block, building and room, but the outcome was never really in doubt. It was only a matter of time before they would be overwhelmed.
I edited this video together using some footage from WWII in color. I wanted to showcase not only the advancing Soviet Infantry, but also their notable use of point blank artillery. The Soviets literally tore the city apart, turning it into a crumbling inferno of dust and ash.
