Dr. Dean Kirschner

Dr. Kirschner will be addressing the emotional and psychological impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. The discussion will address the impact from the professional perspective - being confronted with potential exposure while on a call. There is also the personal perspective of the increased stress experienced both in the firehouse and outside the firehouse - on a personal level. There will be a discussion on how stress affects communication between peers, spouses, family, and work partners. There will be a discussion on improving communication while experiencing stress. Interactive discussion is encouraged and there will also be time set aside for questions and answers. Dr. Dean Kirschner is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, mental health clinician, specializing in mental health trauma. Dr. Kirschner has worked in the area of mental health for First Responders for 28 years and is on five CISM teams, including the Baltimore County Fire Department CISM team.
