Balsam Fir has a stunning fragrance making her a popular choice for Christmas trees in the Northern Hemisphere. The tree offers two essential oils, one from his needles which possesses a refreshing, green scent and the other from her wood. The latter is what we will explore here. When Balsam Fir is young, the wood of his trunk is smooth and soft to touch. As she matures, the resin comes to the surface of the trunk, blisters, then ruptures and bursts, causing the trunk to become rough and scaly. Thus, as the tree goes through life, just like us, he changes, showing the experience of her years.
