A state of emergency in Tokyo may be widened as COVID 19 infections surge. Osaka, Hyogo and Kyoto could be next. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has again urged the public to comply with the new rules. On Jan 8, Japan reported over 7,800 new infections, breaking the daily record for the fourth day in a row. Japan has also reiterated its intention to hold the Olympic Games, but with fewer than 200 days to go, concern is growing.
