Here at Salford Royal we have created a new digital pathway, which is improving the way we diagnose and treat patients with delirium. Our new digital assessment tool, developed as part of our Global Digital Exemplar programme, is already producing results in terms of reducing length of stay for patients with delirium and increasing the numbers of patients diagnosed with delirium and also dementia.
Delirium is an acute brain failure, caused by an underlying medical illness. Currently, one in five people who have delirium will die within a month. It is often poorly recognised and underdiagnosed.
