In March 2009, Tom Hardy spoke to ITN about the making of the film 'Bronson'. Hardy discussed how he felt playing Britain's most notorious prisoner and opened up about the relationship he built with Bronson while researching the role.
Charles Bronson, who first entered Britain's penal system as Michael Petersen and who today goes by Charles Salvador, is the subject of a parole hearing today at London's Royal Courts of Justice. Convicted of armed robbery in 1974, most of the crimes of which Bronson has been convicted occurred while he was in prison. Considered to be Britain's most violent inmate, over the years Bronson has staged prison protests, taken hostages in prison sieges, and assaulted fellow inmates and prison staff. His original sentence was for just seven years. Bronson's behaviour inside, however, has caused that sentence to be extended to cover most of his life.
