The new model SBSA253 takes over from the Seiko 5 classic SNXS79J1 but many fans out there were quick to say this is not an upgrade at all for the price change.

I struggle to see where those claims come from. Rip off? No way. This watch is superior in many ways. Heck, it immediately feels better than the older SNXS79 when I held it in my hands. And I know how to discern among the various levels of build quality.

The SBSA253 is head and shoulders above the SNXS79J1. I'd gladly pay for the price upcharge if I were to buy a mid-range-and-under Seiko (which I won't these days).

I don't know how some reviewers can simply overlook the actual and obvious improvements found here.
