Mexico’s Popocatepetl volcano in San Matias Tlalancaleca erupted on Friday, January 6, releasing a plume of “incandescent material” into the air, local authorities said.
Footage captured by a fixed camera in San Nicolas de los Ranchos, Mexico, shows the moment Popocatepetl erupted early on Friday morning.
The National Civil and Protection Service said the explosion occurred at 5:53 am and urged residents in the region to take precaution from ash emissions by wearing face coverings and covering water tanks.
