Recipe:
79 mL 85% phosphoric acid
166g KI (potassium iodide)
distill at 200c (oil bath)
This will yield 37 mL of 65% hydroiodic acid (do not try to concentrate further! It won't work and you will loose concentration)
To measure concentration take a graduated cylinder and place itnon a scale. Tare the scale and add your acid. Read the grams and record the volume on the cylinder. Divide the grams by the volume. 1.7 is 57% 1.6 is 48% and 1.8 is 65%. Basically we know 1.7 is 57% so 1.6 is 6/7 x 57% (since water is 1 so the .7 equates to 57%) and 1.8 is 8/7ths x 57%
