Lorenzo Micheli and Matteo Mela gave the world premiere of Alexandre Tansman's newly discovered "Sonatine" at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in San Francisco CA, USA, on February 22, 2014.
This four-movement work was written by Tansman upon request of Andres Segovia one year after the composer's most famous guitar piece, "Cavatina". The Sonatine was originally composed for one imaginary guitar with extended polyphonic and harmonic resources: the use of a second guitar seems therefore more suitable to render its thick musical texture.
