so this video is of one of my daily training sessions, where i handle my young cavies for just 1 minute per day.
I find that if i start training them and handling them from a young age and getting them used to standing on judging boxes they learn this behaviour and present themselves better when being judged at a guinea pig show.
in this video you will see the various techniques i use to train the cavies, this is great not only for showing, but also if the cavy is calm and responsive, you can conduct health checks and basic husbandry without upsetting your Guinea pig.
if you spend lots of time feeding, breeding and grooming your guinea pig, it is only right you put the same effort into training them, as all of the above attributes are required in top show cavies.
and lastly, if you guinea pig does not like this type of training it will probably not enjoy being shown, so when i find "nervous" guinea pigs those join the breeding program rather than the show team, remeber this is supposed to be enjoyable for the cavy as well as yourself.
