Yes there is conflicting data on what’s optimal for squat depth as some research studies show deeper ROM is optimal whereas other studies show the exact opposite.
So we’re left with a quandary where the research is essentially split. However if we examine foundational principles of kinesiology such as neuromuscular mechanisms of muscular contractions, structural physiology, osteokinematics, neurophysiology, biomechanics, anatomical levers, elastic energy, length tension relationship of muscles, proprioception, motor control, reciprocal inhibition, & co-contraction of reciprocal muscle groups, here’s what we find.
They’re all congruent with each other and they all point to the same thing: 90-deg joint angles (above parallel due to tibial inclination) are optimal for human body in terms of muscle growth, strength, power, joint health, muscle function, & athletic performance. If you don’t believe me examine the literature yourself.
