Walking through the centre of Valencia is like travelling back in time.
In today's video, we will show you some of the main historical points of the city. Our walk starts in the Plaza de la Puerta del Mar. Next, we will pass by the Plaza d'Alfons el Magnànim, where you can see the sculpture of King Jaume I.
We will continue along the Peace Street (Calle de la Paz), which is one of the main and most beautiful streets in Valencia. It is conceived in line with the nineteenth-century French urbanism that Haussman had developed in Paris and that would totally change the image of the French capital.
Calle de la Paz, although evidently not so resounding, transformed this part of the city, attracting commerce and becoming, together with the Ensanche de Colón, a place of residence for the bourgeois class. This street offers a beautiful view of the Santa Catalina tower in the background.
We will continue our walk through the narrow streets of the historic centre to finally reach the Cathedral and the Plaza de la Virgen.
