Next on the list is chamber reverb. Historically, studios would build their own reverb chamber, which consisted of a speaker and a microphone placed inside a reflective room. The track would be sent out of the speaker, recaptured by the microphone and routed back to the recording console. Given that the construction of every chamber is different, they all have their own characteristics. For example, the Abbey Road Studios chamber is legendary and can be heard all over The Beatles' records.
Chamber reverbs are similar to hall in many ways in that they deliver a lush, ambient-soaked sound. But unlike hall verbs, they offer an additional sense of clarity that you don't get from the washed-out feeling of a hall reverb.
Chamber reverbs generally sound pretty neutral, so they work well on all sorts of sounds, especially vocals, strings and acoustic guitar. They're perfect for a John-Bonham-like drum sound too. They're especially great on small ensembles and classical music.
