The Swiss EAGLE 4×4 Reconnaissance & Patrol Vehicle was originally developed by Swiss firm MOWAG, now part of General Dynamics Land Systems, for the Swiss Army.
First orders were placed in 1995 and since then the vehicle has been further developed in to 4 other mks resulting in the mk5 featured in the video.
The Mk 1 to 3, are built on the ECV Hummvee chassis offering protection upto STANAG 4569, Level 2. The Mk 4 offers Level 3 protection whilst the mk 5 uses a modular armor package with both Mks using the chassis of the Mowag DURO series.
The Mk5 is capable of being fitted with various Remote Weapon Stations with either a .50 cal MG or SAM or ATGM launchers operated by a control panel station in the vehicles rear.
The EAGLE series is in service with 3 European Armies and Police forces. The most recent order was by the German Army for 176 Mk5 in 2013.
The Eagle 6x6 is a Light Tactical Vehicle hybrid of the earlier Eagle 4x4 and DURO 3 chassis. Unveiled in June 2012, General Dynamic Land Systems offer the vehicle in 7 variants and features a unique suspension system and patented roll stabiliser. It is powered by a Cummins engines and Alison automatic transmission with a top output of 285hp.
Fitted with a modular armor system allowing for increased levels of protection, the Eagle 6x6 can be fitted with a Remote Weapon Stations mounting up to a .50 calibre Machine Gun.
