Chris Aylward, president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, criticized the federal government on Saturday amid the union's ongoing strike encompassing more than 100,000 members.
He accused Treasury Board President Mona Fortier of "incompetence," after he said a proposed package put forward Thursday that they believed would allow them to reach a deal had not been responded to as of Saturday afternoon. He said that the "employer" had said Friday morning they would respond to one part of the package — seniority issues — but the union had yet to hear back on any part.
He added that the union's members and bargaining teams were "fed up" and called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to get involved in the negotiations.
