What’s in a name?
In the case of a feature like Lane Following Assist, it does exactly what its name implies…Lane Following Assist, or LFA, is available on select Kia models. This system monitors various inputs such as lane markers and vehicles in front to adjust the steering to help position the vehicle in the center of the lane.
To turn on LFA, the vehicle has to be stopped, the transmission in park and the ignition on…
Then, go to the User Settings menu on the instrument cluster by pressing the Mode button on the steering wheel: Select Driver Assistance… then Lane Safety… and Lane Following Assist… finally, press the “OK” button on the steering wheel.
A white steering wheel icon will appear illuminated when LFA is turned on – it will turn to green when the system activates and detects the lane markers, a vehicle in front and other conditions are met.
Once active, Lane Following Assist helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane by monitoring the lane markers or the vehicle in front… and adjusting the steering, as needed
To ensure effectiveness of LFA, be aware of the sensor locations and cleanliness. It’s also important to be aware of the operating conditions that must be met for LFA to operate.
Lane Following Assist will operate when the system can detect both sides of the lane markers…
And the vehicle is traveling faster than approximately 40 mph and slower than 95 miles per hour.
Leave it to Kia to enhance your driving experience by offering an intuitive feature like Lane Following Assist.
