This video demonstrates how to build an igloo by yourself using blocks cut from a snow drift. I use a crosscut saw and a small shovel to cut and remove the blocks of snow. I start on top of the snow drift and then cut blocks from the floor to begin crafting the walls. Once the material is used from what will become the inside of the igloo, I cut out the door and finish the remainder of the igloo with blocks cut from the snowdrift outside of the igloo. In this case, the whole exercise took three or four hours. I am not an expert at this, by the way, and I learned quite a few things in the process. One key tip is to build the walls in a spiral by cutting a triangular-shaped block to form a ramp to start the spiral. I also found I could use thinner blocks at the top. The snowpack here had different layers so I tried to maximize the use of the layers that were the most solid as I cut the blocks. Good luck. Use caution and don't leave an igloo unattended if there is a chance that children could enter unsupervised. Respect the Risk!
