In the start of rainy season in the month of May, many species of seasonal plant grow wild in the forests of Northeast India.
Songrura also spelled as Sang rura in Garo is one such plant which pops up all around the forest. These plant are wild cousins of Elephant foot Yams that are grown and consumed in Southern India.
The plant is very versatile and can be cooked in many different ways and is of very soft mushy melt in your mouth texture with an amazing flavor.
In this recipe, I am showing you a Garo recipe that makes use of banana leaves to steam the leaves with sliced onions and chilies.
