Background: Older adults with diabetes are at increased risk of periodontal disease and poor dentition, which may affect overall health, functional status, and quality of life.
This webinar, a collaboration between NCECE and the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) recorded on August 22, 2019, addressed the burden of diabetes among older adults who have experienced homelessness and the burden of periodontal disease among this population; the role of supportive housing as a key social determinant in improving health outcomes, including connections to quality dental care; and promising and evidence-based practices aimed at improving overall dentition among older adults with diabetes who are homeless or formerly homeless.
A follow-up publication, co-authored by NCECE and CSH, was published in September 2019: [ Ссылка ]
