Most of us have likely experienced the phenomenon of musical 'chills'—a psychophysiological response to music that sparks a sensation of shivers down our spine. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, representatives, neuroscientists, and artists have come together to create Brainstorms.
In this project, 125 participants listened to "The Great Gig in the Sky" in high-quality sound while their brain activity was recorded. This data was then used to create personalized visualizations of each participant's listening experience. The collected data offers exciting insights into how we emotionally respond to music, and specifically, the uniqueness of our propensity to experience 'chills'.
