Summary:
In my opinion, the i5 2500k can still be used for 1080p medium gaming. If you can buy one with a motherboard and RAM in a deal while you're on a budget, I would buy it, but you will not really have a huge upgrade path. If you have a little bit higher budget, I would go for an AM4 kit so you can upgrade the processor easily in the future if you want to have a better CPU.
