Today, about 95% of hydrogen is produced from fossil fuels. The process emits a lot of CO₂: for each kg of hydrogen produced, 10 kg of CO₂ are emitted. But there is a way to produce hydrogen without emitting CO₂: electrolysis, provided that the electricity used in the process is itself low-carbon! Which is the case of 95% of electricity produced in France by EDF.
