What can you do with kinesiology degree? Use it to become a certified occupational therapy assistant (OTA).
After earning her degree in kinesiology — the study of human or non-human movement — Michaela knew she wanted to work in healthcare. However, she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do within the field.
That’s when she found St. Catherine University’s Online OTA program. Through a blend of online coursework, hands-on labs and fieldwork, our program allows you to graduate ready to sit the for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) — the final step toward becoming a certified occupational therapy assistant.
For Michaela, who wants to start her career as an OTA as soon as possible, the ability to graduate in as few as 16 months held special appeal, as did the fact that there is no waitlist to get in to the Online OTA program. As a resident of California, where waitlists are the norm, Michaela knew all too well that for many healthcare degree programs in the state, it can take years just to get in.
Also significant to Michaela was the convenience of the online portion of the program. Rather than work around someone else’s schedule, she can complete the coursework at her own pace, when it fits her schedule — any time day or night. Of course, she still has to attend the hands-on labs about once a month, as well as complete the 720 hours of fieldwork required to graduate, though the online coursework makes this much easier for her.
