Mark begins the series, “Reading the Old Testament Through John”, by introducing us to the uniqueness of the Gospel of John. Of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, John deviated from the synoptic writings of the other three. John tells different stories, using different narratives, different structures, and with a more developed theology. Mark reveals how John wrote his Gospel so people would have no doubt who Jesus was, and that all roads lead back to Jesus. We’ll see examples from Genesis, through Adam, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob – through Exodus, Moses, and many more.
