An ancient princess, the King of all Gods Zeus, and the today's continent of Europe; this is a story worth telling straight out from the breathtaking Greek mythology, packed with so many hidden meanings!
EUROPA (2021) is an original song by the renowned lyre player Lina Palera, specially composed for an ancient lyre, and inspired by a lesser-known princess who was abducted and eventually seduced by Zeus himself. She was the one who gave her name to a whole continent.
The melody is performed on a custom LUTHIEROS lyre with 13 strings, masterfully handcrafted by Master Luthier Anastasios of the Koumartzis family.

🏺 Who was Europa?
For the ancient Greeks, Europa was a princess and the mother of the King Minos of Crete. She was abducted and then seduced by Zeus, the King of the Gods, according to sources that date back to the 8th century BC. The story's concept is quite common in Greek mythology; what is remarkable though is that Europa gave her name to a whole continent: Europe! Her story remained popular during the centuries, with many ancient ceramics and coins depicting her, along with numerous Renaissance paintings too, all the way to this day where we can find her depiction in European Union's 2-euro coin! The ancient tale of Europa has an interesting and surprisingly good ending, compared to the tragic finale that Greek myths use to have in their vast majority. When Europa (being a mortal) died, Zeus transformed her into a star complex and he then took the shape of a bull to merge in the same complex. Today, this star complex is named "Taurus Constellation". What's more, the most special of the planet Jupiter's sixteen moons is called Europa; the one that is believed to have water on its surface.
