This video is part of the series "Organizational Strengthening for Global Development" which chronicles key lessons learned from the Think Tank Initiative. In this video, experts from several funding organizations answer the question: "What drives you as a funder?"
The Think Tank Initiative (TTI) helped to strengthen 43 policy research institutions in 20 developing countries over 10 years through a mix of core funding and support for capacity development. By monitoring the impact of this support, TTI has distilled several lessons that funders can learn from in order to put think tanks in low and middle income countries on a path towards organizational sustainability and enable think tanks and funders to develop greater synchronicity in their partnerships.
The series consists of 14 videos which feature representatives of the 5 funding organizations that supported the Think Tank Initiative: Canada's International Development Research Center (IDRC), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD).
