The Wusthof Gourmet is the entry level knife created to compete directly with brands like Victorinox. The knife is still made in Germany. However, it is stamped and machine made and sharpened to a 18.5 degree angle. With that said, it still comes with a lifetime warranty and a full tang.
The Victorinox Fibrox line is the best "budget-friendly" knife you can get. It has a wicked sharp 15 degree blade that has been merged with an extremely non-slip “Fibrox” handle. The end result is a great price on a knife that can compete, quite well, with higher priced brands.
