Despite its name (Love's Sorrow), this piece is filled with charm, Viennese melodies, and LOTS of notes.
Rachmaninoff transcribed it from a violin piece his friend Fritz Kreisler wrote in 1905. It was one of three pieces Kreisler composed in his set Alt-Wiener Tanzweisen (Old Viennese Melodies).
