Portugal is beautiful, but the Douro river really does surpass expectations. That’s why we’ve introducing a new 8-day river cruise in 2024 onboard a brand-new ship, the MS Porto Mirante.

We’ll cruise past the terraced vineyard riverbanks of the Douro Valley, stopping at all the best spots. Like Porto, a charming city with its tiled facades, colourful houses and not forgetting its famous port wine production (importantly we’ll sample the port too). If you’re up for a challenge, climb 686 steps to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Remédios – the view over Lamego is worth it. In Pinhão we’ll visit a Quinta renowned for its exquisite moscatel wines. Again, we’ll get the chance to sample the local wine with lunch. These are just a few highlights, but there’s so much more to see on this river cruise. It’s ideal for wine aficionados, history buffs and architecture enthusiasts.
