Notes:
“An embarrassing amount of money” is like $4,800 after sales gouging (sales tax). This was sold to me by a very nice man at Rockbrook Camera in Omaha NE.
The battery is kinda crap, but the camera will also run directly off D-Tap (the battery pack is 14.4V and the DC adapter is 24.3V so I guess this thing is built to interoperate in a television studio) so I can get one of my V mount batteries and run the camera with that (once I find a holder so it’s not just dangling). This is normal for Canon, they NEVER ship the good stuff with the camcorder in its retail packaging.
The shotgun mic holder does hold my CMG-50 just fine.
Yes, I am still pissed off that there was no thing of hard cheese in that baggie.
It’s not a cinema camera, it’s an ENG camera. Completely different markets, YouTube cinema snobs need to buy equipment from their segment of the market and quit bitching that a camera that IS NOT MADE FOR THEM does not do the things which a camera that is made for them would do. Yes, the price is comparable, but the usecases are entirely different, ya dumb baby doofus.
This camera is almost exactly the same size as my old HVX200. I do not know what to do with this information. At that physical size though, I imagine @BenJonesVideographer would have an easy time palming this thing.
