Beer with high fatty foods can lead to excess calories causing beer belly. In the liver, oxidation of ethanol takes precedence over other metabolites used for energy metabolism and the latter are down regulated to accommodate the input from ethanol. Over time, this can lead to fatty liver which can potentially lead to cirrhosis.
