 On the wild cliffs of Panagia Hozoviotissa monastery, at a height of 300 meters, the sky meets the immense sea and the fierce wind paints on it waves and ripples and you'll hear the noise of the stormy sea.

"The Big Blue" (Le Grand Bleu) is the french movie that was shot in 1988 in Amorgos, directed by Luc Besson, with Jean Reno, Jean-Marc Barr and Rosanna Arquette.

The title of the movie was inspired by this view, as the poster shows after all.

Some scenes were shot overlooking the big blue and some from the sea with a view to the cliffs of Hozoviotissa.

Seeing the view is a private moment, which is why the monastery was built there 1,000 years ago, it's not like in Santorini where you see the sunset in the crowds of tourists.
