Arguably one of the rarest of all the FD RX-7's is this immaculate Series 8 RX-7 Type RZ. This example was was built in Hiroshima March 2001 and is number 288 of only 325 ever made. All RZ's were presented in Snow White Pearl which contrasts beautifully with the lightweight factory red Recaros made from a special blend of carbon-kevlar. Red stitching is carried through the interior from the Nardi steering wheel to the shifter and handbrake boot. Also unique to the RZ is a passenger side aluminum footrest.
The RZs overall weight saving was nearly 10kg over previous models, rear seats were removed at the factory and replaced with storage boxes, factory custom BBS aluminum light weight 17 inch alloys with Bilstein suspension for improved handling and performance. Essentially this is as close to a Spirit R you can get unless of course you consider the 2002 Spirit R we have coming through in Titanium Grey. Either the RZ or the Spirit R will stay on permanent display in our showroom, only one will be sold.
To become part of the Blackwells Mazda Heritage Selection every classic Mazda has to be original and unmodified. Only then will we import it and over time every part of it inside and out is inspected thoroughly and refurbished if necessary. The import grade was 4 so we started with a very clean example. The Recaro seats have been re-upholstered, the BBS alloys have been fully reconditioned and paired with new tyres on each corner. Genuine Mazda remote locking has been added during the full birthday service carried out on site in our Award Winning Service Department.
When these late model FD RX-7's are over 25 years old you can expect prices to increase even further as they start being imported into America. Our example here will suit the most discerning of collectors with the bonus of being able to be enjoyed on a regular basis.
Currently on display in our Moorhouse Avenue showroom located in Christchurch, New Zealand.
