In this video, I will show you how to build a voltage doubler circuit using four diodes, two capacitors, and a transformer without using a breadboard. This circuit can be used to double the voltage of an AC power supply to provide a higher DC voltage.
To build this circuit, you will need the following components:
- A 12V AC transformer
- Four 2A diodes
- Two 1000uF electrolytic capacitors
- Soldering iron and solder
- Wire cutters and strippers
connect the anode of one diode to one of the transformer output wires, and the cathode of the same diode to the positive terminal of one capacitor. Connect the anode of another diode to the other transformer output wire, and the cathode of the same diode to the positive terminal of the other capacitor.
Connect the negative terminal of one capacitor to the cathode of the diode connected to the positive terminal of the other capacitor. Then, connect the negative terminal of the other capacitor to the anode of the diode connected to the positive terminal of the first capacitor.
Finally, connect a load, such as an LED, to the junction of the two capacitors. When the circuit is powered on, the capacitors will charge and discharge alternately, effectively doubling the voltage across the load.
This circuit is a simple and effective way to double the voltage of an AC power supply using just four diodes, two capacitors, and a transformer.
