"Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone" was written in 1930 by Sam H. Stept with lyrics by Sidney Clare. The original publication also credited singer Bee Palmer as co-composer. This version is from April 1931.
The lyrics are an admonishment between parting lovers, where the singer asks the other to either speak nicely of her, or not at all.
The video scenes are taken from TV Series Betty Boop (Crazy Town 1931, Dizzy Red Riding Hood 1931, Minnie the Moocher 1931, Sally Swing 1938).
