In this video, I share my experience of attending a mass Ngaben ceremony in Singaraja, Bali. Ngaben is a Hindu funeral ritual that is unique to Bali. It is a celebration of life and a way to help the deceased person's soul move on to the next life.
The Ngaben ceremony that I attended was for my friend's husband. He had passed away 5 years ago, but his family had been unable to afford the cost of the ceremony until recently. I was honored to attend the ceremony and help my friend and her family say goodbye to their loved one.
The Ngaben ceremony was a very colorful and elaborate event. The body of the deceased person was placed in a decorated chariot, which was then carried through the streets of the village. The chariot was accompanied by a procession of people, including family members, friends, and musicians.
The Ngaben ceremony is a very important event for the Balinese people. It is a way to show their respect for the deceased person and to help them on their journey to the next life. I was honored to be able to attend a Ngaben ceremony and to learn more about this unique Balinese culture.
