Here is my pipeline for exporting camerapath from wolfcam to 3d app(it's nowhere near to be a proper production workaround, don't expect much). I'm using c4d but it can be any 3d app:
1. In wolfcam do /recordpath (make sure your framerate is set to desired one, wolfcam will export data in the following form [demotime posX posZ posY rotationPITCH rotationHEADING rotationBANK] to C:\Users\user1\AppData\Roaming\wolfcamql).
So for every frame you will get the coordinates of demotaker in that file.
2. I wrote a python script for c4d that will automatically animate null object with the data from dumpfile, so that you don't have to do it manually frame by frame. Just execute it and you should have a null object with keyframes set appeared in your object manager. [ Ссылка ]. Tested on R18, might not work on a newest versions.
3. Now you need to export the map from quake engine to c4d. There are many ways around to do that I'm not gonna explain it step by step, there are many tuts on that in web. I personally would recommend reading this [ Ссылка ]. Also this [ Ссылка ].
4. Now a fuckedup part. The map's geometry won't really allign with the the path(rotH and rotP are off, posX posY posZ and rotB are ok) you exported. But you can adjust it manually. Simple xpresso setup should do the job [ Ссылка ]. Create a new camera, adjust the fov and make it a child of Null-out. I would suggest baking the path into alembic after so you can have full control on timescale editing.
That's it. You should understand the fact that this only exports your path(you can also export enemy path by /follow him in demo), but the animations, weapons etc. are not exported. You can do all that manually if you have time and a lot of passion ofc but it's a pain.
Now if I were at least somewhat decent programmer what I would do is combine this with animation cfg file using animFrame and in theory I could have a proper tool that will export everything(paths, map geo, enemy model, player model, weapon models, entities, fxs etc.) in one take, just like in cs:go for example. But I'm not a coder, i've tried my best, I've tried to ask for people's help and eventually I failed, so I'm done with that.
Hope someone will find this useful. It would be a dream for content creators if someone with proper knowledge would be able to create a tool that will do everything in one take. For that I would may be even make a proper comeback and make another frag/defrag movie.
Cheers.
If you will have any questions(not basic ones like how to run a script in c4d please) feel free to write them here I will try to answer them to the extent possible.
